Independent commercial experience. Practical implementation.

Fox Healey & Co helps UK manufacturing and engineering SMEs improve commercial performance through structured measurement, objective analysis and practical implementation.

We combine direct commercial operating experience with the technical capability required to improve systems, connect data, reduce manual processes and support carefully scoped digitisation.

Operating experience translated into structured methodology.

Consultancy can fail when theoretical frameworks meet the complex reality of day-to-day operations.

Fox Healey’s approach is grounded in direct experience of working within manufacturing and engineering businesses, where commercial decisions must account for customers, pricing, operational capacity, people, systems and available data.

Rather than examining sales, marketing, pricing or technology in isolation, we consider how these areas work together to influence commercial performance.

Manufacturing and engineering
B2B sales leadership
International business development
Pricing and margin management
Key-account development
Customer segmentation and retention
CRM implementation
Pipeline and forecasting
Commercial reporting and dashboards
Marketing and lead generation
Team development
Recruitment planning
Data analysis and visualisation
Workflow automation
Systems integration
Digitisation and software development
Practical artificial intelligence adoption

This experience has been structured into the Fox Healey Commercial Performance Framework, providing a consistent method for assessing the six connected areas that influence growth, margin, visibility and execution.

Commercial and technical leadership

Fox Healey is a founder-led consultancy supported by complementary commercial and technical leadership.

Our work combines commercial judgement with the technical understanding required to determine whether improvement depends on clearer management processes, better use of existing systems, connected data, automation or a carefully scoped digital project.

Matthew Fitzpatrick

Founder and Commercial Performance Adviser

Matthew leads Fox Healey’s commercial-performance methodology and client advisory work, helping manufacturing and engineering businesses identify where revenue, margin and commercial capacity can be improved.

He has held senior commercial roles across engineering and manufacturing, with experience spanning sales leadership, international business development, pricing and margin management, key-account development, CRM implementation, marketing, team development and wider commercial improvement.

At Fox Healey, Matthew is responsible for client qualification, Commercial Performance Snapshots, management interviews, consultant validation and the development of practical improvement programmes across markets, customers, sales, pricing, people and systems.

Fox Healey & Co was established to translate that direct operating experience into a structured, evidence-led approach for UK manufacturing SMEs.

Martin Fitzpatrick, PhD

Chief Technology Officer

Martin leads the technology strategy behind Fox Healey & Co, with responsibility for the client portal, commercial-performance tools, market-intelligence systems and the technical governance required to support future growth.

He is a senior software engineer with more than 20 years of programming experience and a background spanning software development, data science and scientific research. His expertise includes application architecture, Python development, web applications, APIs, relational databases, data analysis, visualisation, automation and machine learning.

At Fox Healey, Martin supports the development and oversight of the systems used to collect, structure, analyse and report commercial-performance information.

He also supports client projects where the Commercial Performance Snapshot identifies opportunities involving digitisation, connected data, systems integration or process automation. This may include reviewing existing technology, improving commercial reporting, reducing manual administration and assessing whether automation, artificial intelligence or bespoke software could create measurable value.

Martin’s role is to ensure that technology supports clear commercial objectives and that any recommended solution is proportionate to the client’s needs, internal capability and expected return.

Commercial insight supported by technical capability

Matthew leads the assessment of markets, customers, sales, pricing, people and commercial performance.

Martin provides technical oversight where improvement depends on better systems, more reliable data, workflow automation, digitisation or practical artificial intelligence.

This combined approach allows Fox Healey to move beyond simply identifying a commercial problem.

Where appropriate, we can help clients determine whether the most effective response is:

A clearer management process
Better use of an existing system
Improved data quality or reporting
Integration between existing platforms
Automation of a repetitive workflow
A carefully scoped digital or software project
Additional internal capability or recruitment

Technology is not treated as an objective in itself. It is considered only where it can support clearer decisions, improve productive capacity, strengthen commercial control or create measurable value.

Our principles of engagement

01

Evidence before assumption

Recommendations should be based on reliable evidence, with uncertainty, data limitations and assumptions clearly identified.

02

Commercial relevance

Every recommendation should connect to revenue, margin, customer value, capability, risk reduction or productive commercial capacity.

03

Practical implementation

A report has limited value unless the business can act on it. Recommendations must account for the client’s resources, systems, people and operational constraints.

04

Independent challenge

Management teams should receive objective analysis, including findings that may be difficult or uncomfortable.

05

Measurable improvement

Success should be assessed against an agreed baseline, defined responsibilities and clearly understood measures.
